Perseverance Old Vine Shiraz
Wine
Eldorado Road Perseverance Old Vine Shiraz draws from an enduring patch of vines at Glenrowan. Planted in 1890 after a long voyage from France, they have weathered the ravages of time.
These ancient, dry grown Shiraz vines are interspersed with Ugni Blanc (or Trebbiano). Often a small percentage of this white variety ends up in the wine.
The grapes are gently destemmed but not crushed to retain the berries whole. They are split between two open fermenters, one containing some whole bunches. The ferments are kept cool and lightly hand plunged daily.
After several weeks on skins, the wine is gently basket pressed into French oak puncheons. It matures for 18 months on full lees to build texture.
Rich red purple, Eldorado Road Perseverance Old Vine Shiraz is full bodied with firm tannins, yet it retains a floral perfume and plush, silky character. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
